The 2026 Rethink e-Recycling Drive in Macquarie Park closed on Friday 23 October. Goldman Travel was proud to partner with Konica Minolta, Macquarie University and the Australia and New Zealand Recycling Platform’s TechCollect to host the drive. The aim was to give residents and businesses a convenient way to recycle unwanted electronics responsibly and keep valuable materials out of landfill.
Where and when it ran
Collection ran for a full week, from 17 to 23 October 2026, across Macquarie Park. Residents and community members could use collection bins at two Macquarie University locations. Businesses had a separate option alongside the community bins. Konica Minolta hosted collection at its Macquarie Park facility, where a drive-through drop-off operated at 85 Epping Road on 22 and 23 October. A special walk-in collection day took place on Friday 23 October.
What happens to the items
Once collected, computers, monitors, printers and other electronics were processed through accredited recycling facilities across Australia. More than 90% of the materials, including metals, plastics, glass and circuit boards, are recovered and reintroduced into manufacturing. Recovering these materials keeps them in use for longer and supports a more circular economy, where materials return to use instead of being buried. Certificates of Destruction were available on request, which gave businesses a record of how their equipment was handled.
A convenient option
The week of collection responded to a common problem. Offices and homes accumulate old equipment that is no longer in use, and it can be difficult to know where to take it. The drive gave residents and businesses a straightforward option close to where they work and live, run with accredited recycling partners. It also brought together a university, a technology company, a national recycling scheme and a travel company around one community project.
Thank you
The drive depended on its partners. Goldman Travel thanks Konica Minolta, Macquarie University and TechCollect for their work in making it possible, and everyone who brought equipment to a collection point. It was a project that benefits the Macquarie Park community and the local environment, and Goldman Travel is glad to have supported it.
