Qantas is rolling the dice on a brand‑new adventure, announcing non‑stop flights from Sydney straight to the heart of the Las Vegas Strip starting this December. After two years of special NRL charter flights that proved wildly popular, the airline is ready to make Vegas a seasonal staple, and tickets are already on sale.
Those NRL flights, which ferried fans to Allegiant Stadium for season openers, revealed just how much appetite there is for direct travel to the world’s most electric entertainment capital. The recent double‑header, Bulldogs vs Dragons and Knights vs Cowboys, continues the tradition, and Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace says the demand has been “surprisingly strong.”
From 29 December 2026 to 12 March 2027, travellers can hop aboard three weekly Dreamliner flights departing Sydney on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The schedule is designed for convenience:
- QF55 leaves Sydney at 9pm and lands in Vegas at 4:55pm, perfect timing to hit the Strip for dinner
- QF56 heads back to Sydney later that night, arriving two days later
The 14‑hour journey skips the usual West Coast stopovers, offering a seamless ride on the Boeing 787 with lie‑flat Business suites, spacious Premium Economy, comfortable Economy seating, and fast free Wi‑Fi.
Beyond the bright lights and blockbuster shows, Las Vegas is a global hub for major conventions. January’s Consumer Electronics Show alone draws close to 120,000 visitors, making the new route a win for both leisure and business travellers.
